CI Classroom Teacher Olivia Gregory received a grant to purchase a new couch for the room. Ms Gregory's aim is to enhance the classroom environment by replacing an outdated and unsanitary couch with a new, functional seating option for the calming corner. The calming corner is an essential space within her special education classroom, designed to support students in managing emotions, reducing stress, and regaining focus throughout the school day. The existing couch is heavily worn and no longer suitable for student use; however, it remains in place due to the critical role this space plays in student success.

The proposed purchase of a new couch—ideally one with a pull-out feature—will provide students with a clean, safe, and comfortable area where they can rest, reset, and re-engage in learning. Many students in the program rely on this space daily, and upgrading this resource will significantly improve both the physical environment and the quality of support she is able to provide.
